Tengrinews.kz - Almaty’s Botanical Garden has explained why visitors no longer see swans.
Their statement has been published on their official Instagram page.
"Our swans have been moved to their winter quarters. With the arrival of colder weather, the beloved residents of the Main Botanical Garden relocate to warm winter pavilions, where they will stay until spring," the post reads.
The garden also reassured visitors that the fish remain in the pond through the winter, as in previous years.
"During the cold season, the fish become inactive and enter hibernation. Continuous aeration will be maintained in the ponds to support them. Let’s wish our animals an easy winter and look forward to seeing them again in spring," the statement added.
The Botanical Garden also reminded visitors not to feed the swans. Bayan Kospenbetova, Director of Marketing and Business Development at the Institute of Botany and Phytointroduction, explained that the swans are fed a specially designed diet, and feeding them other food is strictly prohibited.
Earlier, the Almaty Zoo reported on their new addition of swans.
