The new Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister Нуrzhan Kazykhanov labeled the attempt to relate the alleged threats from Taliban with blasts in Astana and Aktobe as “pure speculations”. He said that in an interview with a local newspaper "Liter". “I believe it’s a pure speculation to relate the alleged statements supposedly coming from Taliban with the recent explosions in Aktobe and Astana still to be investigated. It is prematurely to talk of terrorism. There is no final verdict. Kazakhstan has been and is a generator of stability and safety”, the Minister said. According to him, for the 20 years of wise policies pursued by President Nazarbayev there have been no inter-ethnic clashes or social tensions. “And there wont’ be any. We will not let them happen. I regard speculations on the topic as an attempt to gain some political score”, he said. The Minister added that “Afghanistan is a source of instability for the entire Central Asia. As a responsible member of the global community, Kazakhstan supports international efforts to secure stability in Afghanistan”. According to him, military actions is not a solution. International assistance is a must for the economic recovery of the nation. “When the Afghan people can maintain stability inside their country on their own, all the countries of the region, including Kazakhstan, will be enjoying greater safety”. The Taliban had warned majority Muslim Kazakhstan that its decision to send troops to the NATO-led war in Afghanistan would have severe consequences and was not in its regional interest, Reuters reported earlier.
