Tengrinews.kz - A resident of Aktau has been fined over 800,000 tenge for launching an unlicensed prize giveaway on Instagram while promoting his online course, according to a court ruling.
On January 16, 2025, the man advertised a course titled “Business from Scratch” and promised followers a chance to win money, smartphones, and even a car. However, such promotions fall under the legal definition of a lottery, which in Kazakhstan can only be organized by licensed operators.
The court found the man guilty based on protocol documents, Instagram screenshots, and other case materials.
He was fined 825,720 tenge (equivalent to 100 monthly calculation indices), the minimum penalty for individuals under Article 445-1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses. The court considered the fact that it was his first violation as a mitigating factor.
