Footage posted on social media showed dozens of fire trucks and a helicopter.

In another video, a cable can be seen being lowered from the helicopter to lift two people off the roof of a building.
Earlier, the Almaty Department of Emergency Situations (DES) had informed the public that from June 17 to 30, preparations were underway at the Orion residential complex for large-scale tactical and special exercises scheduled for July 1. All city emergency services, including fire crews, are involved in these exercises.
“The placement of equipment at this location is part of planned training activities. During this period, units undergo briefings, communications checks, coordination, and technical readiness inspections.
Such drills are held to ensure that in a real emergency, all services can work smoothly and effectively. We ask for your understanding,” the DES stated.
Previously, the Almaty DES issued a warning to city residents due to extreme heat, urging them to follow safety precautions.
