Tengrinews.kz – The Akim of Abai Region, Berik Uali, discussed plans for the large-scale reconstruction of the Alakol lakefront during a briefing, with significant investments announced for the area's development.
Uali clarified that a master plan for the area’s development is being created.
“The plan includes the creation of over 1,000 hectares of recreational and tourism zones, as well as the development of public, business, and residential areas. Improvements will also focus on transportation access, engineering infrastructure, and environmental sustainability,” he said.
However, Uali emphasized that it would not be possible to address all the infrastructure issues in just one season.
“Nevertheless, conditions for tourists have already been created, and measures for infrastructure development have been implemented,” he added.
Since the creation of the region, the lakeshore has not undergone any major renovations. Uali revealed that 1 billion tenge has been allocated from the regional budget in 2025 for infrastructure updates.
Construction of a rescue station and a fire department has already begun in Kabambay village, and the development of project documentation for a new electric network and a solid waste disposal site for the tourist zone is underway.
The implementation of these projects is progressing according to schedule, with specific allocations for various initiatives:
- 141 million tenge for the fire station in Kabambay
- 171.6 million tenge for a new public space
- 108.9 million tenge for Arbat repairs
- 229.5 million tenge for road repairs along the lakeshore
- 107.5 million tenge for lakeshore beautification
- 41.6 million tenge for pier installations
- 53.5 million tenge for lakeshore maintenance and sanitation during the swimming season
The Akim concluded that the implementation of the master plan will connect Kabambay village to the lakefront, expanding the area to 3,000 hectares.
