Tengrinews.kz – The Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry, Zhaslan Madiyev, was asked when the next Kazakhstani will fly into space.

The official stated that Kazakhstan has not yet selected a candidate to participate in the next space mission.

“There is currently no designated astronaut who will take part in the space program, so the work is still ongoing. I cannot comment on the timeline,” Madiyev said in the corridors of the Mazhilis.

It is worth noting that this September marks 10 years since the first astronaut of sovereign Kazakhstan, Aydin Aimbetov, went into orbit.

Aydin Aimbetov launched into space on September 2, 2015, aboard the Soyuz TMA-18M spacecraft. Two days later, on September 4, the spacecraft successfully docked with the International Space Station.
