Tengrinews.kz - Two rural akims (governors) in the Zhambyl region have been fined for violating anti-corruption laws by allocating land plots to their relatives, according to the press service of the regional court.
According to case materials, both officials transferred land without notifying their superiors, creating a conflict of interest.
In December 2024, the mother-in-law of the akim of the Polatkosshi rural district was granted a 0.0692-hectare plot for gardening, which was converted to commercial use just two months later.
The sister of the akim of the Karatobe district received rights to a 0.1-hectare plot and was also granted ownership of another plot she had previously rented. Additionally, a 0.35-hectare land plot was allocated to the akim’s father-in-law.
The court ruled that the officials failed to prevent a conflict of interest, thereby violating Article 680 of the Code of Administrative Offenses. Both admitted guilt and were fined 275,000 tenge each. The rulings have come into legal force.
Previously, authorities completed an investigation into the head of a credit partnership in the West Kazakhstan region, who was suspected of embezzling over 150 million tenge in state subsidies.
