Tengrinews.kz - President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has congratulated the newly elected Prime Minister of Canada.

The Head of State sent a telegram to Mark Carney on the occasion of the Liberal Party’s victory in the federal elections.

“President Tokayev emphasized that Astana greatly values its multifaceted partnership with Ottawa and reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation across various economic sectors,” the statement said.

Mark Carney assumed office as Prime Minister of Canada on March 14 following the resignation of Justin Trudeau. Just one week later, he announced snap parliamentary elections.

Earlier, President Tokayev held a telephone conversation with the Prime Minister of Luxembourg.
