Tengrinews.kz - President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev will not celebrate his upcoming 72nd birthday on May 17, the Akorda press service confirmed in a statement.
According to the statement, no official or celebratory events are planned in connection with the President’s birthday.
“No ceremonial events are scheduled in connection with the birthday of Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The President does not celebrate this date,” Akorda said.
This stance is consistent with Tokayev’s previous approach. In 2024, his press service noted that May 17 is just an ordinary day for the President — a reflection of his long-standing personal principle.
“In his family, it was not customary to celebrate birthdays — neither for children nor for parents,” the statement read at the time.
