Tengrinews.kz – President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev congratulated Kazakhstanis on Amal Kuni (Day of Greetings).
"Dear compatriots! I sincerely congratulate you on Amal Kuni, the harbinger of the Nauryz holiday!" the congratulatory message reads.
According to the President, inquiring about each other's well-being after a long winter is a special tradition rooted in history. On this day, people meet with their relatives and loved ones, and the younger generation receives blessings from their elders. Through such customs, the Kazakh people have long instilled qualities such as kindness, compassion, and solidarity in future generations. In modern Kazakhstan, these values are fully reflected in the concept of "adal azamat" (a person of integrity).
"Today, the unique tradition of Korisu, which precedes the Nauryz holiday, is being revived and taking on a nationwide significance. I am confident that it will contribute to strengthening the unity and solidarity of our people. May every home be filled with happiness and joy!" the Head of State said.
It should be noted that on March 14, Kazakhstanis traditionally celebrate Amal Meiramy, also known as Korisu. On this day, people greet each other, exchange warm wishes, and pay respect to the older generation.
The word "Korisu" in Kazakh literally means "to meet" or "gathering." It is customary to visit friends and relatives, congratulating them on the arrival of spring. In ancient times, Kazakhs, who predominantly led a nomadic lifestyle, would visit neighboring villages after enduring the harsh winter to check on each other, share news, and ensure that everyone had made it through the cold season safely.
