Tengrinews.kz - Almaty will conduct a scheduled citywide earthquake drill, according to the city's Department of Emergency Situations (DES).
The drill is planned for April 30.
"On the day of the drill, at 11:00 a.m., the citywide alert system will be activated, including siren and voice installations, interception of TV and radio broadcasts, and notifications sent via mobile applications," the statement said.
Preparations for the earthquake drill will begin in advance.
"Starting April 28, TV and radio broadcasts will be interrupted with a notice about the upcoming scheduled drill, along with recommendations to remain calm," officials added.
The DES recommends that Almaty residents prepare an emergency kit in advance and identify the shortest route to an open area located away from power lines, trees, and buildings.
"The 'Attention everyone!!!' signal is a warning alert designed to attract public attention before emergency information is transmitted in case of a threat or actual emergency. Upon hearing the signal, residents should turn on their televisions and radios or check internet resources and mobile apps for instructions on further actions," the statement said.
Previously, Kazakhstan's Ministry of Emergency Situations reminded citizens of 10 essential steps to help protect themselves and those around them during an earthquake.
