Tengrinews.kz – Several villages in the Turkestan region have been granted "alcohol-free" status, according to Polisia.kz.

"Already 66 villages in the region have voluntarily given up alcohol. Recently, the villages of Zaghambar, Algabass, and Tagayna in the Tolebi district joined them," the statement says.

According to residents, giving up alcohol has improved public order and reduced the crime rate to zero.

"The experience of these villages proves that a healthy lifestyle is the path to a safe and bright future," the statement notes.

For reference, in the North Kazakhstan region, 13 villages have already completely banned the consumption and sale of alcohol. A "dry law" has also been declared in 33 villages in western Kazakhstan. People in Aliya Moldagulova’s hometown neither drink nor lock their doors at night.

In addition, residents of Dalabay village in the Akmola region have also voluntarily decided not to sell alcohol in their community.
