Tengrinews.kz - The Ministry of Emergency Situations has listed the seismically active regions of Kazakhstan.

According to the ministry, the most seismically dangerous regions in Central Asia include southern and southeastern Kazakhstan (Almaty, Turkestan, Zhambyl, and Kyzylorda regions, as well as Almaty city and the Zhetysu region).

Meanwhile, the Karaganda region, where a 4.5-magnitude earthquake was recorded on October 30, is not considered a seismically active zone.

Earthquake in Karaganda region: Why non-seismic zones are shaking

"According to the National Scientific Center for Seismological Observations and Research of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, hundreds of low-energy seismic events have been recorded in these regions since 1965, with a maximum energy class of 9. A single event with a class of 11.2 occurred in 2003. However, these earthquakes are considered 'background' for this region and do not pose any danger. This is a natural geological process. Earthquakes with an energy class of 8 or 9 are background levels for these areas, while those with lower classes occur even more frequently. They are imperceptible and only registered by seismic sensors," explained the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

Let us recall that at night, November 5, seismologists recorded an earthquake in the Zhetysu region.

Also, on the morning of November 5, an earthquake occurred in the Almaty region and Almaty city. The epicenter of the earthquake was located 33 kilometers east of Almaty, within Kazakhstan’s territory.
