Tengrinews.kz – The Presidents of Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan held talks in Astana, according to Akorda.
Welcoming his counterpart, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted that Kazakhstan had been awaiting this visit, as Turkmenistan is regarded as a strategic partner and a brotherly nation.
"We are immediate and closest neighbors. We are united by centuries-old friendship, shared history, language, and culture. Trade between our countries is developing successfully, as well as other types of economic cooperation and cultural-humanitarian interaction. There is every reason to express full satisfaction with the volume and quality of cooperation between our countries. This cooperation is strategic in nature, but at the same time we must continue moving forward. The agenda includes very important issues that will be resolved today," the President of Kazakhstan said.
Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed sincere gratitude for the invitation to pay a state visit to Kazakhstan.

"Allow me, on my own behalf and on behalf of the delegation, to express our gratitude for the warm welcome and hospitality. Let me also convey warm regards on behalf of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, the esteemed Gurbanguly Myalikguliyevich Berdimuhamedov. I would also like to note that relations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Kazakhstan are developing on the principles of friendship, brotherhood, and good neighborliness, covering a wide range of cooperation in the political-diplomatic, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian spheres," the President of Turkmenistan said.
It is worth noting that the President of Turkmenistan has already visited Astana this year. In May, Serdar Berdimuhamedov arrived to participate in the "Central Asia – Italy" summit attended by the region’s heads of state.
He later came for the "Central Asia – China" summit held on June 17, which also brought together the leaders of the region.
In August, Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with the President of Kazakhstan in Turkmenistan, where the parties discussed strengthening cooperation in trade and economic affairs, energy, and transit-transport sectors. The presidents reaffirmed their commitment to the comprehensive development of the strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan.
