Tengrinews.kz - Thailand continues to attract Kazakhstanis, with our citizens ranking second among visitors from the Central and Eastern European region, second only to Russians.

According to Travel And Tour World, Thailand received 137,000 tourists from Kazakhstan from January 1 to October 23, 2024, which is 16% more than the previous year. These tourists spend an average of about 75,000 baht (approximately 1,082,932 tenge) per trip, making them significant contributors to the Thai economy. These funds constitute the income of many local businesses - from hotels and restaurants to travel companies.

According to Suladda Sarutilavan, Director of the European Department of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), the launch of direct flights between Astana and Phuket will significantly increase the number of tourists from Kazakhstan, which, as TAT predicts, will reach 200,000 people by the end of the year.

Sarutilavan noted that most of the Kazakh tourists are new visitors who are discovering Thailand for the first time. This factor is important for TAT, as first-time tourists create a word-of-mouth effect, which can contribute to further growth of interest in Thailand among Kazakhs.
