Tengrinews.kz - At the invitation of the Speaker of the National Assembly of Hungary, Laszlo Kover, a group of deputies led by the Chairman of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan, Yerlan Koshanov, visited Hungary on an official trip.
In Budapest, the deputies met with the President of Hungary, Tamas Sulyok. The Chairman of the Mazhilis expressed his enthusiasm for visiting Hungary, a brotherly nation to Kazakhstan, and conveyed warm greetings from the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, to Tamas Sulyok.
"Developing cooperation with Hungary is one of the priority areas of Kazakhstan's foreign policy. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between our countries, Kazakh-Hungarian cooperation has reached the level of strategic partnership, which is now ten years old. This is undoubtedly the result of the mutual efforts of our countries' leaders," said the Chairman of the Mazhilis
The Chairman of the Mazhilis spoke about the large-scale reforms being implemented in Kazakhstan at the initiative of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, including the nationwide referendum held on October 6.
"The President entrusted the decision on this momentous issue to the people, and on October 6, the majority of Kazakhstanis supported his initiative. Hungary has significant experience in the nuclear industry, and we believe it is advisable to enhance cooperation in training personnel in this area," said Yerlan Koshanov.
The Chairman of the Mazhilis also met with Laszlo Kover, the Speaker of the National Assembly of Hungary. The parties discussed the prospects of inter-parliamentary relations.
"Hungary is a reliable friend, a fraternal state, and a strategic partner for us. We are interested in strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation, and this desire is mutual. Inter-parliamentary friendship groups are actively working in our legislative bodies. We closely interact in a multilateral format within international organizations. I call for further development of our partnership," said the Chairman of the Mazhilis.
The heads of the parliaments of the two countries signed an Agreement on Cooperation between the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the National Assembly of Hungary.
Members of the delegation also laid flowers at the monument to Abai Kunanbayev in Budapest and met with Kazakhstani students living in Hungary. In Karcag, the deputies met with local residents - descendants of the Kipchaks - and participated in the unveiling of the sculpture "Dombra."
