Tengrinews.kz — An earthquake occurred in Almaty on the night of December 22.
According to operational data from the Kazakhstan National Data Center of the IGR at the National Nuclear Center, at 02:16 AM Astana time on December 22 an earthquake struck in China. The tremors had a magnitude of 5.0.
Seismologists added that the earthquake was felt in Almaty with an intensity of 2 points.
According to the Institute of Seismology of the National Academy of Sciences of Kyrgyzstan, the earthquake’s epicenter was located in China (the Kakshaal Too range), 33 kilometers southeast of the village of Bedel, where the intensity reached 3.5 points.
Earlier, on December 6, Kazakh seismologists recorded an earthquake, and tremors were felt in Taraz and Shymkent with an estimated intensity of 2 points.
It is also noted that on December 4, a 6.1-magnitude earthquake occurred in southern Xinjiang, China. The tremors were strong enough to be felt in Almaty, the Almaty and Zhambyl regions, as well as the Jetisu region.
