Tengrinews.kz – The Mazhilis has approved at second reading a package of amendments on support for the tourism industry. The document provides for subsidising the cost of air tickets on domestic flights for children when purchasing package tours around Kazakhstan.
The draft amendments were presented at the Mazhilis plenary session by MP Nikita Shatalov.
“The bill consolidates the powers of the authorised body to set requirements for additional support measures. In particular, it concerns a tourism product under which the cost of an air ticket included in the tour package is subsidised for the transportation of underage passengers within the country.
The second area is subsidising the expenses of tour operators in inbound tourism for each foreign tourist. Thus, support will be focused on real results and economic impact,” the MP said.
In addition, the deputy noted that the amendments strengthen the role of local executive bodies. Akimats will be able to define the boundaries of priority tourist areas and monitor the preservation and targeted use of facilities created or modernised with state support. This is expected to increase responsibility at the local level and ensure the protection of public investment.
The second part of the bill concerns children’s and mass sports. The amendments introduce per capita funding standards for youth sports schools, as well as the E-Sport digital platform. It is expected that this will increase spending per athlete to 415,000 tenge per year compared to the current 233,000 tenge, and will also raise coaches’ salaries through qualification-based bonuses.
According to the drafters, the E-Sport platform will provide accounting, management and analytics in the sports sector, as well as data exchange with other state information systems.
