85-year heat record broken in Astana

Tengrinews.kz - An 85-year-old temperature record has been broken in Astana.

Record set on June 23

According to Kazhydromet meteorologists, a new temperature record for June 23 was set in Astana. Temperatures rose to 36.8°C.

Experts state that the previous record for June 23 was 36.4°C, recorded in 1941. Thus, the new figure surpassed the historical high by 0.4 degrees.

It is worth noting that in May 2026, Kazakhstan saw several temperature records broken simultaneously. One of these records had stood for more than 80 years. On May 31, temperatures in Petropavl rose to 35°C, breaking the 1943 record of 33.6°C.
