Tengrinews.kz – In July 2025, most regions of Kazakhstan experienced abnormal heat. According to meteorologists, several cities and districts set new records for maximum air temperature, surpassing values that had stood for decades.
On July 4, Turkestan recorded +44.9°C, exceeding the 1942 record (+44.2°C) and breaking an 83-year-old mark. In Shymkent, July 3 saw +40.6°C, beating the 1978 record (+40.0°C). Throughout the month, the city repeatedly broke previous records from 2021 and 2001.
In Almaty, July 5 reached +39.0°C — 1.8°C higher than the 1968 record. Aktau hit +41.1°C on July 13, surpassing the 1995 record. Temperature records were also updated in Zhezkazgan, Kyzylorda, Balkhash, Ust-Kamenogorsk, and other cities.
Astana’s average temperature for July was +21.9°C, 1.3°C above normal, with below-average precipitation.
Meteorologists note that the heat coincided with a precipitation deficit across most of the country, intensifying drought conditions. However, northwestern regions and parts of the southwest, east, and central Zhambyl region saw above-normal rainfall.
