Tengrinews.kz - A malignant tumour weighing six kilograms was removed by doctors of Zhambyl Regional Multidisciplinary Centre of Oncology and Surgery. The complex operation lasted 5 hours. The size of the tumour reached 35 centimeters and it had spread to 90 per cent of the liver.

The 62-year-old resident of Merken district was admitted to hospital on the verge of an irreversible process. Before that, the patient had noticed that her abdomen was enlarging, and it became difficult to walk and breathe. She was compelled to seek medical attention due to a work-related requirement for a flu shot. At the vaccination point, she was urgently referred for an examination.

The diagnosis was disappointing and she needed an urgent operation. Experienced surgeons, using modern equipment, removed the massive tumour.

"We acted just in time. To be honest, the patient was very fortunate. There are currently no metastases. She is not undergoing chemotherapy, only targeted therapy. This treatment is being administered as a preventive measure," said Yerasyl Arapov, head of the oncology center.
