Tengrinews.kz - Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov chaired a meeting of the commission on economic demonopolization, according to the government’s press service.
"Following the meeting, a list of 475 state-involved business entities was approved for privatization, merger, or liquidation," the statement reads.
The process will be carried out in stages and is expected to continue through 2030.
"More than half of the enterprises have been included in the action plan for 2025–2026," the government added.
Bektenov emphasized that the implementation of the Presidential decree "On Measures to Liberalize the Economy" must be completed within the designated timeframe.
During the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Economy Serik Zhumangarin reported on ongoing efforts to reduce state participation in the economy and to increase the contribution of medium-sized businesses to GDP. He noted that the state's involvement will be limited to socially important and strategic sectors only.
Chairman of the Agency for Protection and Development of Competition Marat Omarov also outlined measures being taken to remove barriers that hinder market competition.
