Tengrinews.kz — In the first three weeks of July, more than 1,300 attempts to illegally export fuel and lubricants were stopped at Kazakhstan’s state border. This was reported by the National Security Committee (NSC).

According to the NSC Border Service, from July 1 to 21, a total of 1,342 attempts to illegally transport fuel and lubricants were recorded at checkpoints.

The total volume of fuel that people tried to take out of the country in violation of established rules exceeded 112 tons. All offenders have been held liable in accordance with Kazakhstan’s legislation.

The NSC emphasized that stopping the illegal export of petroleum products is aimed at ensuring the country’s energy security and combating the shadow fuel trade. The agency noted that work to detect such violations is continuing.

Earlier, in early July, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov instructed officials to strengthen control over the illegal export of fuel and lubricants. According to the government, in just two days, 61 attempts to export more than three tons of fuel in additional tanks and canisters were stopped at checkpoints, while since the beginning of the year, 593 attempts to illegally export petroleum products had been prevented.

Later, the Interior Ministry reported that 59 police posts were operating at the border for control purposes. Since the beginning of the year, police have identified 255 vehicles with illegally installed additional fuel tanks. A total of 195 foreign citizens and 60 Kazakhstanis were brought to administrative liability. The ministry emphasized that the illegal export of fuel and lubricants is under special control and that such violations will be detected and stopped in a timely manner.
