Tengrinews.kz – Spotify is rolling out a new messaging feature that will allow users to share music, podcasts and audiobooks directly within the app.

According to the company, the messaging option can be accessed via the “Share” button in the “Now Playing” window. Users will be able to start chats with people they already know or have previously shared Spotify content with. Suggested contacts may also include those who co-created playlists or use the same family plan.

Spotify emphasized that its community rules and platform standards – including bans on illegal or harmful content – will apply to the new feature. Users can report messages or accounts by holding down the text, selecting “Report” and specifying the violation. They will also be able to block users or completely disable the “Messages” function in the app’s settings.

The feature will begin rolling out this week on mobile devices for both Free and Premium users over the age of 16 in select countries. Spotify confirmed that messaging will be available to all account types once the rollout is complete.
