Tengrinews.kz - Features for customizing nicknames and setting up a PIN code for protection against unknown contacts have appeared in the beta version of WhatsApp, according to WABetaInfo.
In the beta version of WhatsApp for Android (version 2.23.11.15), a feature for setting up usernames has appeared. This allows users to hide their personal phone numbers from unfamiliar users. However, the account can still be found by the username or phone number if someone knows them. For existing contacts, the phone number will remain visible, but new contacts will see only the user's nickname by default.
In the beta version of WhatsApp for Android (version 2.24.18.2), a feature has been introduced that allows users to block incoming messages from unknown contacts using a PIN code. Users can set a code with four or more digits, which will limit the receipt of unwanted messages. People who are not in the contact list will only be able to send a message after entering the correct PIN code.
Old chats will not require entering a password. The feature is still under development and will be available in a future update.
