Meanwhile, according to French media, Durov will remain in custody until Wednesday, the term may be extended until 28 August for 96 hours.

Pavel Durov was detained on August 24 at Le Bourget Airport after arriving from Baku. Durov, who holds French citizenship, was on the wanted list. He could face charges of terrorism, drug offenses, fraud, and crimes against children, for which could result in up to 20 years in prison.

After Durov's detention, the Telegram team stated that the messenger complies with all EU laws.

French President Emmanuel Macron said that Durov's detention was part of a "continuing judicial investigation" and that this decision is "in no way political.”
