Two thirds of computers attacked by Internet viruses are located in Almaty, Tengrinews.kz reports citing head of Russian Research Center Kaspersky Laboratory Sergey Novikov. According to the analyst, 77 percent of computers attacked by Internet viruses are located in Almaty. This is related to the fact that the city has a big number of active Internet-users. The statistics is based on the data of activated anti-virus programs, that’s why one more statement was made: Almaty residents actively use protective software. The numbers are much lower in other cities. Astana has only 6 percent of attacked computers and Karaganda has 5 percent of them. Semei has only 1 percent of the total number of computers attacked by Internet viruses. Every second user in Kazakhstan is exposed to Web-threats. Kazakhstan was lifted to the fifth place in the global rating of Internet-surfing safety. The number of Kazakhstan Web-attacked users increased by over 10 percent last year. Novikov added that compared to 2011 with 35 thousand new threats per day, this number had doubled in 2012. In general the analyst showed that the number of targeted hacker attacks aimed at major companies and corporations would increase in the world in the nearest time. The hackers would also attack the websites of state authorities more frequently. On February 7, 2012 the hackers attacked the website of the Intellectual Property Commission of Kazakhstan Ministry of Justice. The website’s main page contained a message stating that it was attacked because of amendments to the intellectual property law of Kazakhstan. Several hours later the corporate website of BTA Bank came under DDoS attacks . By Dmitriy Khegai
