Kazakhstan has faster Internet than Italy or Argentina

Kazakhstan was ranked 72nd in the rating of the countries with highest Internet speed, being ahead of Italy, Argentina and Cyprus. The list made up by Netindex.com includes 174 countries. According to the report, average Internet access speed in Kazakhstan is 4.88 megabit per second. The rating is led by Lithuania with the Internet speed of 31.76 megabit per second. It is followed by South Korea (29.84 mbit/sec) and Latvia (26.76 mbit/sec). Traditionally acknowledged IT leaders did not make it into the top 20 of the list: Japan is ranked 25th, the U.S. is 33rd and China is only 62nd. According to the report on global competitiveness of 2010-2011, Kazakhstan is ranked 69th for Internet speed and number of Internet users. The rating includes 139 countries. Kazakhstan was ranked 82th the year before.
