The speed limit at Big Almaty Ring Road will be set at 110-120 km/h, Tengrinews.kz reports citing head of passenger transport and roads department Vladimir Merenkov as saying at the press-conference in Almaty. According to him, the lands for construction of the ring road are currently being purchased. “11 billion tenge ($74 million) were allocated for construction of the road from Raiymbek street to Kapshagai highway. After the lands are purchased, there will be selection of construction companies. The road will be constructed mainly at the cost of investors,” Merenkov said. Big Almaty Ring Road will be constructed by 2015. According to authorities it will save the city from transit cars, traffic jams and improve the ecological situation. By Daniyar Bozov
