Shymkent refinery suspended for overhaul

Shymkent oil refinery has been suspended for 30 days, Tengrinews reports citing the press-service of PetroKazakhstan Oil Products. Shymkent refinery has been suspended for the scheduled overhaul. It will last until November 9. The suspension schedule was approved by the Kazakhstan Oil and Gas Ministry. The refinery has a sufficient stock of AI-80 and AI-92 petrol. Besides, it has a sufficient quantity of petcoke. PetroKazakhstan is a vertically-integrated energy group indirectly owned by Chinese National Petroleum Corporation and KazMunaiGas National Company. The group works on oil and gas exploration, development and production, as well as oil processing and sales. Earlier Tengrinews reported that Shymkent oil refinery would be modernized by 2016. In the beginning of the year Kazakhstan Prime-Minister Serik Akhmetov promised to personally control modernization of the three Kazakhstan oil refineries.
