Russia and Kazakhstan are implementing perspective projects on the use of Baikonur cosmodrome, including creation of a joint space launching complex Baiterek, Interfax-Kazakhstan reports citing the press-service of Roskosmos (Russian space agency).
“Russian and Kazakhstan parties continue searching for mutually acceptable solutions for creation of Baiterek space rocket complex at Baikonur cosmodrome. According to the existing agreements, several cooperation projects are being implemented and promising areas of cooperation are being developed,” the message on the agency’s website states.
A large-scale modernization of the existing ground-based infrastructure of Baikonur cosmodrome is performed in line with the existing Federal Space Program, the press-release reads. The infrastructure includes technical and launching facilities, fuel stations, airfield, railroad network and other facilities. “The performed actions give us ground to speak of the cosmodrome as one of the most developed structures among the existing cosmodromes,” the message states.
