Kokshetau airport will comply with the first category requirements of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) after completion of its reconstruction in the end of 2012, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the press-service of Kazakhstan Ministry of Transport and Communications. The plan is to complete reconstruction of the air-terminal complex, the apron, aircraft parking lots, taxiways, as well as construct a fuel storage and other auxiliary facilities by the end of 2012. The reconstruction of Kokshetau airport started in 2010. After completion of all works it will become the 11th airport in Kazakhstan that complies with the first category requirements of the ICAO. These airports can accept aircrafts like Airbus-319, 320, 321, Boeing-757 and Embraer-190 at vertical visibility of at least 60 meters and horizontal visibility of at least 800 meters. According to the Civil Aviation Commission of Kazakhstan Ministry of Transport and Communications, the acceptance commission will be formed up in November 2012. It will include all the involved authorities. The airport will be officially put into operation only if it complies with Kazakhstan’s construction standards and rules. The airport’s reconstructed runway was already put into operation in December 2011.
