Kazakhstan car-assembling plant Asia Auto increased production of its vehicles 2.5-fold in H1 of 2012, Interfax-Kazakhstan reports. “In the first six months vehicles output by Asia Auto made 6,547 cars; this is 2.5 times more that in the first half of last year. The plant is responsible for 88 percent of all the light vehicle production in Kazakhstan during this period,” the company states. The output includes 35.6 percent of KIA cars, 32.9 percent of Lada, 21.8 percent of Chevrolet and 9.8 percent of Skoda vehicles. Sales grew 2.4-fold in the same period and reached 17.6 billion tenge ($117 million) in the monetary terms and increased 2.3-fold and reached 5,958 cars in real terms. The factory’s partners include the world’s leading concerns: Volkswagen Group, General Motors, Renault-Nissan-AvtoVAZ and KIA Motors. Asia Auto produces Skoda, Chevrolet, Lada, KIA, Cadillac cars. Asia Auto’s shareholders include individuals Anatoliy Balushkin (67.93 percent), Konstantin Pomortsev (5.99 percent) and Vladimir Dzhumanbayev (9.99 percent).
