The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) issued a loan for construction of a new plant for processing household wastes and production of energy in Aktau, Tengrinews.kz reports. The EBRD provided the loan in the total amount of 2.4 billion tenge ($16 million) for construction of the state-of-the-art household wastes processing plant and its sanitary-technical site. Another $8 million was provided by the Clean Technology Fund. Koktem company responsible for wastes recovery in Aktau also obtained a loan in the amount of 2.4 billion tenge. The money will used for co-financing of construction of the new integrated plant based on mechanical-biological wastes recycling and its new site. The $8 million low-interest loan will also be used to co-finance the project. The project will also be supported by a grant from the state budget.
