The vanadium deposit located in Kyzylorda oblast in southern Kazakhstan is among the top 5 largest fields in the world and can meet 10 percent of the global vanadium demand, Tengrinews reports citing Akim (Governor) of Kyzylorda Oblast Krymbek Kusherbayev as saying at the briefing in the Central Communications Service. “Vanadium deposit is among the top 5 biggest deposit in the world. According to the trade experts, if properly developed, it can cover up to 10 percent of the global vanadium needs. Besides, 9 vanadium associated industries can be set up in the region,” Krymbek Kusherbayev said. According to the Governor, the Oblast will be accountable for production of two thirds of all the uranium mined in Kazakhstan by 2015. These deposits can be a good bases for creating a metallurgical cluster in the south of Kyzylorda Oblast to boost the economic development of the region and positively affect the country’s development in general. “We are also constructing a glass plant and a cement plant in the Oblast. Besides, the region is rich with copper, zinc, gold, molybdenum, zirconium and titanium. There are good conditions and potential for a dynamic development of the Oblast,” the official said.
