China intends to transfer dozens of enterprises in non-energy sector to Kazakhstan, Tengrinews reprots citing Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Karim Massimov.

Massimov talked about the results of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting and the visit of China's Premier Li Keqiang to Astana.

“China offered the government of Kazakhstan a project involving a transfer of some of its facilities in non-energy sector to Kazakhstan. Although it starts as a bilateral project it may later become the first project to cover all the SCO countries. We are talking about dozens of non-energy sector enterprises and multi billion contracts. We gratefully accepted this offer. We believe that in the context of the declining economic activity it is a very good offer,” Massimov said.

A number of SOC documents and agreements were signed during the meeting. In addition, the SCO 2015 budget was approved. Massimov said that the next meeting was scheduled to 2015 in China.

The Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China Li Keqiang arrived to Astana with an official visit days before the SCO meeting. At his meeting with Kazakh officials in Astana, Li Keqiang suggested helping Kazakhstan with the development of the country’s infrastructure.

Chinese Premier expressed China’s readiness to build plants in Kazakhstan. During Li Keqiang’s visit, Astana and Beijing signed a currency swap agreement to to boost trade and investments between the countries.
