BISOL constructs 2-megawatt solar power plant in Kazakhstan's Kapshagai

Samruk-Energo has launched a new project to construct a 2-megawatt solar power station in Kapshagai, Tengrinews.kz reports, referring to Samruk-Energo's press-service.

According to Samruk-Energo, the agreement with BISOL Central Asia Ltd - a 100-percent-owned subsidiary of BISOL Group - was signed on October 1 in Astana. The agreement was to purchase design and turn-key delivery of the project.

It is expected to take the company 4-5 months to construct the solar power plant in Kapshagai. According to Samruk-Energo company this project will be the first such project of industrial scale that uses cutting-edge technologies in Kazakhstan.

“The project is aimed at utilizing solar power to meet the increasing demands of Almaty oblast for power and grid capacities, and improve the ecology through the use of green technologies,” the press-service reports.

After the construction is completed, the power plant will be transferred to Samruk-GreenEnergy company (a wholly owned Samruk-Energo subsidiary).

Samruk-Energo headquartered in Astana is a state-run holding managing power energy assets of Kazakhstan. The capacity of its power plants made 3670.9 megawatt as of the end of 2010. This represented 18.9% of the total capacity of power plants of Kazakhstan's unified power grid.
