Minister of Industry and New Technologies of Kazakhstan Asset Issekeshev held a meeting to discuss supplies of Kazakhstan-assembled cars to state authorities and construction of a new fill-scale car plant, Tengrinews.kz reports, referring to the Ministry's press-office. Issekeshev said that automobile industry is being developed dynamically in Kazakhstan. The Minister is sure that domestic manufacturers are capable of fully meeting the state bodies’ demand for motor vehicles. He said that Asia-Auto supplied 1400 cars to state bodies and national company in 2011. The company produced 7 thousand cars overall last year. Asia-Auto is planning to produce 19 thousand cars (Lada, Skoda, Chevrolet, KIA) in 2012. Construction of a new full-scale plant capable of producing 120 thousand cars a year was also discussed at the meeting. “At present financial, economic and engineered estimate is being made on the project. The project will be submitted for discussion during the State Economic Modernization Committee meeting chaired by the Prime-Minister of Kazakhstan in the first quarter of 2012,” the Ministry’s press-release reads. It is expected that more than six thousand people will get jobs when the factory starts working at full capacity and another 12 thousand people will be engaged in related manufactures.
