Neurosurgery Center of Kazakhstan's National Medical Holding received the European Grand-Prix for quality, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the press-service of the National Medical Holding. “The state scientific neurosurgery center of the National Medical Holding in person of its manager Serik Akshulakov won an honorary award -- the European Grand-Prix for Quality in medicine,” the press-service writes. The Neurosurgery Center won in the Leader in Medicine category. The contest’s purpose in this category is to support professional reputation of leading doctors who are actively using advanced methods of diagnostics, treatment and prevention of diseases. “The victory in the Leader in Medicine certifies of the high quality of the services that it rendered. Besides, this award is handed to highly professional organizers and managers of medical facilities that provide a proper quality level and organization of offered medical services and achieve high results in their work,” the message states. The contest was established in 2005 through an initiative of Swiss Office for the Promotion of Industries and Technologies (OPI), joint Switzerland-CIS Chamber of Commerce and EMA INVEST Investment Projects Support Fund. Kazakhstan's state scientific neurosurgery center was established in 2008 under an initiative of Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev. It offers a wide range of services in diagnostics and treatment of diseases of central and peripheral nervous system, brain and spine. Several unique surgeries were performed in the center for the first time in Kazakhstan: they included vascular, functional, spinal and oncological neurosurgeries. According to the press-service, 4.5 thousand patients from around the country get treatment and 3.5 thousand complicated neurosurgeries are performed in the center annually.
