June 28 Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev visited a new cardiosurgery center in Astana, Tengrinews.kz reports. “This building does not look like a hospital, it looks like a palace. The most modern equipment has been bought. It has not yet been installed anywhere in the world. Its purpose is to saving our people's lifes,” Nursultan Nazarbayev said about the center. “I think there is nothing more noble than treating people and saving their lives. You have a wonderful job and a huge responsibility. Being a doctor is a mission and not just education. This is a totally different profession and life. I cannot even imagine myself in your shoes and how much responsibility you are bearing. Being a president is a responsibility as well, but holding a person’s or a child’s heart is, perhaps, an even greater responsibility,” the President told the new center’s personnel. Nursultan Nazarbayev expressed his hope that now Kazakhstan people will not have to go abroad for surgeons’ help. “We have to convince everyone that we have the most modern diagnostic center, which has all the necessary equipment. I was personally making sure that they buy all latest technologies available at the market. The most important issue now is the doctors’ qualification,” the President said. He also said that in 2005 he gave the instructions to solve issues related to treatment of cardiovascular diseases (as per statistics, they are main cause for mortality in Kazakhstan).
