Almaty Healthcare Department names priority healthcare direction

Neurosurgery remains the priority direction of healthcare in Almaty in 2013, KazTAG reports citing head of Almaty Healthcare Department Zhanat Kassymzhanova. "Neurosurgery is being made part of the aide to patients with apoplectic shocks. This direction will remain a priority is becoming a priority in 2013," Kassymzhanova said at the expanded meeting of Almaty Healthcare Department on results of the year 2012. She reminded that two stroke centers with early rehabilitation of patients opened in Almaty as part of the government-run Road Map program. Meanwhile, head of the Healthcare Department said that the citizens' mortality from blood circulatory system's diseases went 16% down thanks to complex measures on prevention and treatment of socially important diseases. "Cardiac surgery aid was intensely developed, which helped decrease the level of hospital mortality from acute myocardial infarction by 19 percent. Early coverage of patients allowed to lower the mortality from myocardial infarction in the city cardiac surgery center from 12 to 10 percent," Kassymzhanova noted. Besides, according to her, the citizens' mortality from malignant tumors decreased by 5 percent, while TB mortality went 3 percent down. Meanwhile, TB morbidity lowered by 7.4 percent.
