Tengrinews.kz - Billionaire Elon Musk believes that the International Space Station (ISS) has fulfilled its mission and that preparations should begin for its deorbiting.

He expressed this opinion on the social network X.

"It is time to begin preparations for deorbiting the @Space_Station. It has served its purpose," he wrote on Thursday.

Musk believes that the station's further usefulness is minimal.

"Let’s go to Mars," the entrepreneur added.

The space station, a football-field-sized scientific laboratory orbiting about 400 kilometers above Earth, has been operating continuously for over two decades as part of a U.S.-Russian partnership, which also includes Canada, Japan, and 11 European countries.
