The World Cup in Brazil has ended. It was big. It was loud. It was sensational. One of the central sports events this year will be remembered not only for the amazing teamwork that led the Germans to their ultimate prize. The tears of Brazil’s national team and millions of their fans after a shocking defeat in the semi-finals will not be the only memory from the World Cup either.
Eurosport.ru has collected the most juicy postcards from 2014 World Cup in Brazil and invites all of us to revisit those moments together.
June 12. In the first match of the FIFA World Cup Brazilian striker Fred picturesquely falls in Croatia’s penalty box.
June 13. Robin van Persie literally flies to score the most beautiful goal of the championship...
... and pays tribute to Louis van Gaal, who eventually led his team to the third place.
June 16. Cristiano Ronaldo was the first in the list of those consoled by Bastian Schweinsteiger after their matches against Germany.
June 17. Incredible saves of Guillermo Ochoa stopped the immense pressure of Brazil.
June 17. A boring deput of the Russian team was diluted by a silly mistake of Igor Akinfeev.
June 21. Miroslav Klose somersaults his 15th goal at world championships.
June 23. Mexico crushes Croatia in a decisive game and Miguel Herrera gives one of his super facial expressions.

July 5. Jasper Cillessen gives way to Tim Krul, who will make his case in the penalty shoot-out and bring the Netherlands to the semifinals.
July 8. Germans exult against the backdrop of Brazil’s shocking 1:7 defeat.
July 9. Two pillars of Argentina at the World Cup on the same shot: Captain scorer Lionel Messi and Sergio Romero, who saved the team from two Oranje penalty shootouts.
July 12. Arjen Robben and Louis Van Gaal both led the Dutch to well-deserved bronze.
July 13. Philipp Lahm rises the World Cup above his head surrounded by his jubilating teammates. In the final match the Germans won over Argentina 1:0, scoring the only goal in the second half of extra time.
FIFA awarded the "Golden Ball" to Argentine’s Lionel Messi as the best player of the World Cup of 2014. German goalkeeper Manuel Noeyer was named the best goalkeeper of the tournament and awarded the “Golden Glove”. The winner of the “Golden Boot”, i.e. top scorer, was Colombian midfielder James Rodriguez, who scored six goals during the tournament. Germany midfielder Toni Kroos was recognized as the most valuable player of the tournament.
