Tengrinews.kz – The US dollar weakened noticeably on Kazakhstan’s currency market on 18 November, according to data from the Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE).
By the end of daytime trading, the average weighted exchange rate stood at 521.01 tenge per dollar, down 2.63 tenge from the previous session. The National Bank’s official rate for the day is 524.14 tenge.
According to kurs.kz, exchange offices are offering the following rates:
Almaty
Buying: 522.30 ₸
Selling: 524.20 ₸
Astana
Buying: 519.54 ₸
Selling: 526.52 ₸
On 10 October, the National Bank raised the base rate from 16.5% to 18%, maintaining a ±1 percentage point corridor.
Earlier, the regulator reported that the tenge strengthened by 3.5% in October. Average daily trading volumes on KASE rose from USD 248 million to USD 271 million, with total monthly turnover reaching USD 6 billion.
