Kazakhstan’s Central Bank Governor Kairat Kelimbetov is happy over his growing publicity on the Internet in the wake of the yesterday’s 20% currency devaluation, a Tengrinews.kz journalist reports. “I regard [my growing publicity] to be a positive thing. Before yesterday I had never enjoyed such popularity. My popularity ratings in my own family had never been so high. My family members are asking me to keep a lower profile. Unfortunately, it wasn’t me who incited this publicity”, he told a briefing at the President’s Public Communications Service when commenting on Internet jokes on him. He said he was glad Kazakhstanis treated the currency devaluation with a portion of humor. “I liked the posters made of the Wolf of Wall Street movie with my face added on”. Starting from February 11, 2014 Kazakhstan’s Central Bank decided to stop supporting the tenge exchange rate, decrease currency interventions and stop interference with shaping the tenge exchange rate. Here is one of the most popular Internet memes from vk.com on the occasion. The original poster comes from The Wolf of Wall Street movie.
