Kazakhstan’s Kenes Rakishev who invested millions of dollars in foreign projects has made it into the Top-10 private investors of 2012, Buzzsparks reports. The millionaire is ranked 8th with $72 million of investments. The first place in the rating was given to founder of PayPal and major investor of Facebook Peter Thiel: he invested $393.7 million in different projects. He is followed by Gordy Crawford who invested $275 million in Legendary Entertainment. Co-owner of Mail.ru Group Yuri Milner and co-founder of Paypal Mac Levchin are ranked 3rd and 4th. Milner is known for his investments in Internet projects and technologies, while Levchin is the founder of Slide company that develops applications for Facebook. Kenes Rakishev invested $13 million in Russian Internet and $20 million in a startup competitor of Instagram. Celebrities Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Serena Williams and Lance Armstrong had also invested in these project earlier.
