Gazprom is requesting KazTransGas to lower gas prices from $224 to $200 per TCM for the 500 million cubic meters to be supplied to Kyrgyzstan, Ca-News.org writes. “Should all the procedures on transfer of KyrgyzGas to Gazprom be completed by April 1, the gas will be supplied from Kazakhstan in full amount. The only problem is the contract with Uzbeks. But there is gas until December 31,” Director General of Kyrgyzgas Turgunbek Kulmurzayev said. According to him, the talks are in process on gas supplies from Uzbekistan. The plan is that the contract will be signed by December 29-30. He added that Gazprom signed a contract with Uzbekistan for buying 7.5 billion cubic meters of gas at $253 per one thousand cubic meters (TCM). “Last year it cost $283. We hope that this contract with Tashkent will be cheaper. We will sign the contract with Uzbekistan for supplies of 100 million cubic meters only for the southern part of our country,” he said. Earlier Tengrinews.kz English reported that the new owner of KyrgyzGas, Russian Gazprom, would pay Kyrgyzstan’s gas debts to Kazakhstan. KyrgyzGas currently owes over $3 million to KazTransGas.
