Financial Market Regulatory Agency comments on data sharing by banks

Tengrinews.kz - Madina Abylkassymova, Chair of the Agency for Regulation and Development of the Financial Market, spoke about the leak of personal data of clients by Kazakhstani banks.

She acknowledged that the situation requires thorough investigation.

"However, as for the leakage of personal data, which was mentioned yesterday, this information is not confirmed by us, and we will additionally check it. The Ministry of Digital Development also has its own functions. Perhaps they, for their part, have revealed some violations. This requires clarification," Abylkasymova explained.

Аccording to her, a special system for combating cyber incidents is working since 2022. This year, 21 banks were inspected for compliance with information security requirements. She added that banks are eliminating violations identified during the inspections.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Committee for Information Security, Ruslan Abdikalikov, confirmed to journalists that Kazakh banks sold personal information of customers.
