Gamblers from Bishkek leave at least $200 thousand a day in Kapshagai casinos, Tengrinews.kz reports. Kyrgyzstan is losing $200 thousand every day because gambling venues are completely banned from the country, chairman of Kyrgyzstan state agency for regulation and control of financial market Yuruslan Toichubekov said at the meeting of Ata-Meken parliamentary party. According to him, many former owners of Bishkek casinos bought similar businesses in Kapshagai gambling zone and bring in clients from Bishkek to Kazakhstan without additional transportation fee. Toichubekov believes that the full ban on casinos does not solve the problems of gambling addiction, but only causes additional money losses. “It’s not only that casinos are gifting Kazakhstan with gambling venues of $200 thousand a day. The country’s budget is suffering as well. Before the ban was introduced we had 18 officially registered gambling venues. Right now over 50 of them are working underground. They are not paying taxes. Our agency cannot suspend their activities, whereas our financial police has been dissolved,” Toichubekov said.
