Tengrinews.kz - The Chairman of the National Bank of Kazakhstan, Timur Suleimenov, responded to the question of whether money from the National Fund could be used for the construction of a nuclear power plant.

In response to a journalist's question, the head of the National Bank stated that he does not rule out the possibility of attracting part of the funds for the construction of the nuclear power plant from the budget.

"The government has not approached us with a proposal to use money from the National Fund or other sources. The issue of financing the construction is extremely important. We have the technology, the personnel, and the finances. We need to have some leverage in negotiations with the consortium. If we do not provide the technology, personnel, or finances ourselves, our negotiating position will be weaker. I do not rule out that we may finance part of the project ourselves, possibly from the budget. This will improve our negotiating position. When and if the government involves us in the financing issue, we will discuss it," Suleimenov noted.

At the same time, the head of the National Bank clarified that "it is too early to talk about finances."

Recall that earlier, the Vice-Minister of National Economy, Arman Kassenov, answered a question regarding the financing of the nuclear power plant construction in Kazakhstan. According to him, the construction can also be carried out in installments.
